”plenty of mooring places”

We have quite a few years sailing experience, but this was our first acquaintance with Wetterwille and we are happy to say that everything went really well! The Antares is comfortable and easy to sail. Too big for two people, but it wasn’t very difficult to recruit two crew members from among our children. Thanks to the cockpit hood even sailing in the rain was a pleasure.

Because we had to pick up our daughter-in-law in Leeuwarden, we made Grou our first stop.
The next day we went to Leeuwarden via the Prinses Margriet Canal, where there is good moorings in the Prinsentuin. After shopping, family visits and picking up our guest at the station, we had a delicious meal at Humphrey’s (Nieuwe Stad 91).

The next day we chose Joure as our destination for the day and found plenty of mooring places. A little more shopping, then a visit to Douwe Egberts of course. We can also recommend the Italian restaurant near the harbour. On Thursday we wanted to end up in Sneek on account of late-night shopping and so we chose a route via Sloten, Woudsend, Heeg and IJlst to get there. This turned out to be a very beautiful trip.

Before we realised it, our mid-week holiday was over, but we are already looking forward to coming back.
